I have been trying to figure out what kind of tree this is in my yard. I am in southern California. The tree blooms twice a year with fragrant night-blooming-jasmine looking/smelling flowers that are light green. Then those give way to green bulbs the size of a marble. The bulbs eventually open up to expose red berries inside. The tree is enjoyed by hummingbirds and bees. A branch was knocked off during another tree's removal, so there is a space missing where there would otherwise be symmetrical growth. Please see my pictures.
Anything would help! Thank you!

Dear iptone,
The pictures are a little blurry, but it appears as though you may have Winter's Bark (Drimys winteri).
Check out http://www.sunnygardens.com/garden_plants/drimys/drimys_1054.html for all the info.
Sincerely,
Peter
