Gardening: Late-summer color with crape myrtle (Louisville Courier-Journal)
Not too long ago I could sum up in two words that point where my fetish for late-summer color crashed head on into my gardening sensibilities: crape myrtle. I looked at crape myrtle (or crepe myrtle) as the loud drunk at the garden party, the loutish uncle in plaid sport coat at the Louisville Ballet's presentation of "Swan Lake," the irritating aunt coated in 12 gallons of cheap perfume.
