By JON CHAVEZ BLADE BUSINESS WRITER An upscale gardening center in Whiteford Township, Michigan, that closed abruptly last month did so because it was facing foreclosure from its lender, FirstMerit Bank of Akron. Jacob's Garden, which opened in 2007 amid fanfare, had a $2.7 million mortgage and a $600,000 general business loan from the bank. It is unknown how much of the debt was unpaid. However ...
