The large, dense, pyramidal shape of this tree is echoed in its many flower panicles. The inedible brown fruit of these Horse Chestnuts or Buckeyes holds slightly toxic, glossy seeds. Can also be grown as a shrub. Roots can be shallow and invasive. Best to buy trees that are balled and burlapped or in containers to retain the long tap root. Prone to leaf scorch, leaf blotch and moths. Prune in early spring as necessary.

This oval rounded, spreading tree has large, dark green leaves and yellow, pink, white, or multi-colored flowers flushed with pink. Reaches 50 to 75 feet tall and 40 to 70 feet wide.
