Akebia quinata

Fiveleaf Akebia, Chocolate Vine

Light and graceful, these vines are attractive as ground covers, or growing on a fence or an arbor. Vines are deciduous, or evergreen in mild climates. Their dark-colored fragrant flowers appear in clusters in spring. Hand pollination required for production of their sweet grayish-purple fruits, which are eaten in Japan. Prune to control growth of this vigorous vine.
