Lemon Verbena

Its delightful citrus fragrance wafts up as you roam the garden on a warm summer evening. Fresh or dried, the leaves add a sweet tang to hot or iced tea, jellies and potpourris. they are most aromatic in mid to late summer, but can be harvested anytime. Grow outdoors in mild winter climates, or indoors by a sunny window. It tends to become leggy, so keep pinching back the stems to encourage branching and keep compact. Keep indoor plants almost dry in winter. Mulch garden plants with compost or leafmold. In late spring, cut out deadwood. Grow from cuttings.

It is said to be the finest lemon-scented herbs. Outdoor plants next to a warm wall should tolerate temperatures to 14° F. Loses its leaves in fall.
