Anthemis tinctoria

Golden Marguerite

Sun-loving evergreen or deciduous perennials that bloom so prolifically, plants may exhaust themselves and die. Often lacy foliage is aromatic, especially when bruised. Some species of Anthemis are weedy. Flowers are good for cutting. Plant in neutral or slightly alkaline soil. Increase perennials by division in early fall or spring. Sow seeds in early spring for annuals and in late summer for biennials. Stake seedlings, which are easily damaged by wind and heavy rain.
Anthemis tinctoria, Golden Marguerite
Non-stop bloom through summer and fall make this one of the most popular species. Shrubby, short-lived plants with fern-like foliage are available with 2-inch golden yellow, lemon yellow and soft yellow flowers. Propogate from base cuttings or by division in spring.
