Athanasia parviflora

Coulter Bush, Hymenolopis parviflora

This unusual-looking shrub is good for dry areas because it needs little summer water after the first year or two. Combine with rosemary, lavender, cistus and other drought-tolerant plants. Cannot take hard frosts. Thread-like, silvery leaves radiate around branches topped with clusters of flowers that resemble yarrows.
