| The one species in this group, Bergerocactus emoryi, grows wild along Mexico's Pacific coast and on islands off Baja California. Shrubby clusters of slim, spiny branches bear small, funnel-shaped, pale yellow flowers in spring and early summer. Like most Cacti, it thrives in warm dry settings, but needs some shade in hot weather. Give plenty of water in warmer months. Keep nearly dry from mid-autumn to early spring, misting lightly on warmer days in late winter. During this winter rest period it tolerates temperatures close to freezing. New plants grow easily from seed or cuttings. |
