These 40 species of shrubs and unusually tall trees are planted in their native tropical America for their resinous sap and aromatic smell. In the United States, they are grown in warm climates or greenhouses for their clusters of small flowers and colorful berrylike fruit. Plant in a mixture of loam and peat.
