Calliandra haematocephala

Pink Powder Puff

The showy stamens look like pompons of vivid red, pink, purple, green-white or white. A large group of herbs, shrubs and small trees, they thrive in dry open spaces. Need a frost-free climate or protection from light frost, with full sun or light shade. Water deeply and infrequently to encourage deep rooting, and stop watering during cooler months. Prune to thin and prevent damage, removing bare branches at the trunk. Watch for white flies and mealy bugs.
