Capsicum annuum

Red Pepper

With their masses of long lasting festive fruits in red, orange, yellow, green and purple, Ornamental Peppers are used as bedding or container plants. The round or pointed Peppers change colors as they ripen, so one plant may have fruits of many different colors. Like the hot peppers used in cooking, these like warm summers and plenty of water. Start seed indoors 6 to 8 weeks early. Plant seedlings after soil has warmed. Pot plants in fall for indoor color during the holidays. Relatively pest-free, though susceptible to same diseases as edible peppers.
