Caryopteris x clandonensis 'Blue Mist'

Outdoors, these deciduous shrubs and subshrubs grow best in the Southern United States. Otherwise, these East Asian natives prefer to grow in greenhouse pots with plenty of peat and loam. Their foliage is aromatic. In late summer and early fall, flowers bloom blue, white or lavender. Select hybrids are available with deep blue flowers and silvery foliage. Excellent in mixed color borders. Water deeply and infrequently. Cut to the ground in spring to encourage new growth and increase flowering. Cut back lightly after each bloom, and plants will flower until frost. Start new plants from softwood cuttings.
