Chaenomeles speciosa 'Texas Scarlet'

Flowering Quince

A sentimental favorite with its showy flowers in early spring, its fruits are used in preserves and jellies. In late winter, bring cut stems in bud inside and they will soon burst with vibrant flowers. Several cultivars range in color from white to orange to pink to red. Prune deadwood to encourage new growth. Several varieties have thorns.
