Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Spiralis'

False Cypress

Resembling Cypress, their flattened sprays of aromatic foliage on feathery branches create a pyramidal shape. Evergreen foliage ranges from dark green to yellow, some with white markings on the undersides. Most grow to 50 feet tall, though dwarf varieties are available for foundation plantings and hedges. Mature cones are brown to yellow-brown. The ridged, reddish-brown bark peels off. Protect from strong winds. Prune dead central branches if needed. Free from pests and disease.
Chamaecyparis obtusa, False Cypress
One of the slowest growing of all dwarf conifers, with 30-year-old plants only 1½ feet tall. Its shape resembles a tiny broad Christmas tree with spirally twisted twigs. Similar to 'Nana' but slower growing and more conical in shape. Excellent for rock gardens, bonsai, and containers.
