Cleome hasslerana 'Purple Queen'

The Spider Flower adds a graceful, dainty look to the garden, producing lacy clusters of long flowers from summer to fall. Slender pods may follow flowers. A tall-growing annual or evergreen that may reach 4 feet, it looks best in back of flower beds, against fences and in large containers. Strong scent may be unpleasant to some. Flowers and seed pods look good in arrangements. Plant in groups -- single specimens make little show. Cleome serrulate attracts bees. Best where summers are hot and in sandy soils.
Cleome hasslerana
