Evergreen or deciduous vines, shrubs or small trees grown for their clusters of often fragrant, showy flowers. Vines twine beautifully around pillars, arches, and trellises, and shrubs and small trees look good in beds and borders. Clerodendrum aculeatum makes a good hedge. Clerodendrum trichotomum is hardy and Clerodendrum bungei can stand some cold weather. Except for a few hardy varieties, they need a warm and preferably humid climate. Elsewhere, plant in greenhouses or indoors. Plant in full sun with partial shade in summer. Prune after flowering. |

Pink buds open to white flowers with red sepals followed by metallic blue berries. Often dies back to ground in colder climates, but revives in spring. Cut out suckers at base.
