Cliff Rose

These evergreen shrubs or small trees are native to the southwest United States and northern Mexico. None are commonly grown, though they make good rock garden plants. They have small, crowded, leathery leaves, dotted with black. Their white or purple solitary flowers turn to small dry fruits. Their young branches are reddish-brown. Not cold hardy.

Tiny fruits with feathery plumes soften the appearance of this many branched, straggly shrub. Flowers look like miniature roses.
