| Simple to grow, these drought-tolerant, showy plants naturalize easily. Use for summer color in perennial borders and wild gardens. Good cut flowers in orange, yellow and scarlet with sword-like leaves. Often confused with Chasmanthe, which blooms in the spring. In fall, buy bulbs or get divisions from established plants. In colder zones, plant in a sheltered location and mulch in winter, or dig up and store in fall. In coastal areas, plant in full sun, elsewhere in partial shade. |
The favorite masoniorum. The tubular, 1½-inch, orange flowers appear every summer. Likes sandy loam. Dig up and store corms, and replant after spring frosts.
