Echinocereus pectinatus regidissimus

Rainbow Cactus

The spiny, sometimes edible fruit of this Cactus give it its name. Round or column-shaped stems carry buds that form beneath spiny skin, then burst through to produce showy, long-lasting flowers. Plant outdoors in an airy, well-ventilated spot in warm, dry climates, elsewhere, in greenhouses or indoors. Water moderately from spring to fall and very lightly or not at all in winter.
