Erythronium tuolumnense

Dog-Tooth Violet, Trout Lily, Fawn Lily

With their gracefully nodding, Lily-like flowers and often shiny, mottled leaves, plant these in drifts or clumps in woodland or shady gardens, or beside pools and streams. Mostly native to North America, the many types have flowers which range from creamy white to pale lavender and rose. All like soil rich in organic matter. Do not let them dry out during active growth. Some species go dormant in summer and resume growth in late winter and early spring. Plant corms before they dry out.
