Carolina Jessamine, False Jasmine, Carolina Yellow Jessamine

Of these twining vines and shrubs, 2 are native to the southeastern United States, and another is native to Eastern Asia. Carolina Jessamine, the state flower of South Carolina, is the most ornamental Swamp Jessamine (Gelsemium rankinii), is native from North Carolina to Florida and has only recently become available in southern nurseries. Gelsemium is propagated by cuttings and seed.

This twining vine with clusters of bright yellow, fragrant, tubular flowers can also be grown as a ground cover. The shiny green leaves are deciduous in colder climates. All parts of plant are poisonous.
