Hesperis matronalis

Damask Violet, Sweet Rocket, Dames Violet

The name of this plant comes from the Greek word for evening, alluding to the sweet evening fragrance of some varieties. Erect perennial with soft, narrow leaves and loose, usually single blooms that resemble stocks. Use in wild or natural gardens, where they pair well with ferns. Tends to get woody at the base, so raise new plants from seed every few years.
