Itea virginica 'Henry's Garnet'

The evergreen and deciduous shrubs in this group that are tropical are infrequently grown. The native Itea virginica, an open arching shrub, is planted often in woodland and naturalized settings and near water. It produces graceful drooping clusters of flowers in late spring through early summer. Tolerates wet soil, yet highly drought-tolerant.

This award-winning shrub has brilliant reddish purple autumn color and 6-inch-long spikes of gently fragrant white flowers. Best in light shade in hot summer climates.
