Grown for their clusters of showy, cuplike flowers, these North American evergreen shrubs grow well in naturalized woodland areas. Plant in combination with rhododendrons or azaleas. They prefer moist, peaty, acid soil, and full to partial sun. Propagate by cuttings or by seed.
