An old favorite shrub with upright, arching branches that are covered in spring with showy clusters of bell-shaped flowers. Extending the plant's colorful season, flowers give way to pinkish-brown fruit. To promote new growth and next year's blossoms, remove older woody stems each year immediately after flowering.
Masses of trumpet-shaped clear pink flowers bloom in spring. Gray-green leaves drop in fall. Brown, flaky bark peels from stems in winter.
