Lavatera thuringiaca

Tree Mallow

This hollyhock relative includes both annuals (Lavatera trimestris) and several evergreen shrubs. All are easy to grow and become tall fast. Some, like Lavatera assurgentiflora, can reach 10 feet the first year and provide quick, colorful screening. Like other fast-growers though, they tend toward rank, weedy growth if not cut back.
Lavatera thuringiaca, Tree Mallow
