Leontopodium alpinum

Edelweiss

Of the 35 species, only the Edelweiss is well-known. Anyone who saw the film, "The Sound of Music," will remember the song inspired by the soft, woolly, white beauty of their flowers. Short-lived, they grow easily from seed and are perfect in rock gardens.
