Leucophyllum frutescens

Texas Silverleaf, Texas Ranger

Heat is the key to growing this desert-loving evergreen shrub. Slow-growing to 10 feet tall, heat and dry air also make their 1-inch, rose-purple flowers bloom in summer. Silver-gray foliage feels soft like felt. Allergen-free, drought- and wind-tolerant once established. Good drainage is essential, and take care not to overwater. Use as a low hedge, lawn plant or background shrub.
