Mexican Evening Primrose, Sundrops

Rough and tough American natives, the many varieties of Evening Primrose are grown for their showy yellow-pink or white cup-shaped flowers. Their petals often have a satiny sheen or delicate shading which makes them irresistible. True to their name, some Evening Primrose flowers open only in the evening or on cloudy days. Varieties which open during the day are called Sundrops -- you will see some referred to as Evening Primroses. Use in wild or meadow gardens and in the front of flower borders. Given full sun, most require little care. Plants sold throughout the growing season, and seed is easy to germinate.

The soft pinks, whites, and yellows of the Mexican Evening Primrose form carpets of colors as the plant spreads vigorously underground. Its slender stems do not shade other plants, and removal is easy. Shear plants to ground after flowering for second bloom. A lighter pink, compact selection.
