Ophiopogon japonicus

Mondo Grass, Lily Turf

The dense, finely textured, deep evergreen clumps of this slow-spreading perennial make excellent ground cover and edging plants. Flowers are white or lilac, and are followed by blue-shaded fruit. Makes good cut flowers. A rare, black-leafed type is available. Mondo Grass is often confused with Lilyturf which has wider leaves and larger flowers. Start by seed or division. Cut back shabby foliage. Watch for slugs and snails.
