Mexican Weeping Bamboo

Fountains of softly drooping, grassy leaves on slender black stems gracefully accent a Japanese garden or waterside. Can reach 20 feet tall. Lightly hairy leaves just 1/8 inch wide grow up to a foot long. Fairly drought-tolerant once established. Plant in full sun to light shade. Needs very good drainage. Tolerates alkaline soil. Hardy to 20º F, but protect from severe frosts.

A graceful bamboo with weeping branches and finely textured leaves. Perfect accent and, eventually, tall screen. Somewhat drought-tolerant once established, but thrives with good moisture and drainage.
