| Shamrocks and Wood Sorrels sold around St. Patrick's Day are just 2 of the hundreds of varieties of these cheery, clover-like perennials. Most are low herbaceous plants, others are subshrubby or shrubby, grown for their attractive foliage and flowers. Flower buds, rolled like an umbrella, are white, pink, yellow, or rose. Use creeping varieties as ground covers, but some like Oxalis pescaprae, may become pesky weeds. Plant others in rock gardens or hanging pots.
