Oxypetalum caeruleum

Of the 125 species of perennials, annuals, and subshrubs, only Oxypetalum caeruleum (Tweedia caesulea) is commonly grown. It twines weakly to 3 feet long. Its few fleshy flowers are pale blue, darkening to lilac with age.

This sub-shrub is sometimes grown as an annual. Green, 6-inch-long fruits follow summer flowers.
