Phygelius aequalis 'Yellow Trumpet'
Cape Fuchsia, Aurea, Cream Trumpet
| With its low, sprawling branches and loose clusters of arcing tubular flowers, this hardy shrub is excellent around foundations, in front of upright shrubs, or bordering a flower bed. It spreads by underground stems or sends down roots from the branches. Named varieties have been developed from just 2 original species -- Phygelius capensis, with scarlet flowers, and Phygelius aequalis, which blooms in yellows. Give full sun and light, well-drained soil. Tolerate hot dry spells. Prune gangly growth. Mulch in cold winters. Grow species from seed, cultivars from cuttings, or by layering. |

Showy, pale cream-yellow flowers have deeper yellow lobes. Spreading branches become dense and bushy.
