Phygelius aequalis 'Yellow Trumpet'
Cape Fuchsia, Aurea, Cream Trumpet
With its low, sprawling branches and loose clusters of arcing tubular flowers, this hardy shrub is excellent around foundations, in front of upright shrubs, or bordering a flower bed. It spreads by underground stems or sends down roots from the branches. Named varieties have been developed from just 2 original species -- Phygelius capensis, with scarlet flowers, and Phygelius aequalis, which blooms in yellows. Give full sun and light, well-drained soil. Tolerate hot dry spells. Prune gangly growth. Mulch in cold winters. Grow species from seed, cultivars from cuttings, or by layering. |

Showy, pale cream-yellow flowers have deeper yellow lobes. Spreading branches become dense and bushy.
