| These rare aquatic plants grow wild in ponds, streams and bogs in North and South America. They have thick, veined leaves and blue flower spikes. Plant in spring in heavy, fiber-free loam and 1-foot-deep water. The most commonly grown type, Pontederia cordata, is an excellent foliage plant with heart-shaped, glossy, dark green leaves. It is never invasive so it can be mixed with other plants. |
