Primula x polyantha

Polyanthus Primrose, English Primrose

A long-time favorite, these miniature floral bouquets in a rainbow of colors are signs of spring. Excellent for bedding, edging and containers, they are especially effective with spring blooming bulbs. Many long-blooming, large-flowered varieties are available which provide instant color in late winter through spring. Most are short-lived perennials, replanted with summer-blooming annuals. Attract butterflies. Easy to grow in partial shade, and moist, humus-rich soil. Dislike winter dampness and summer heat. Start by seed or division. Watch for red spider mites.
