Santolina chamaecyparissus

Lavender Grey Cotton

Lavender Cotton's dense mounds of fine-textured foliage are attractive year-round. Leaves give off a spicy fragrance when brushed or bruised. In summer, yellow button-like flowers wave above the deep green. Not picky about soil, it is excellent as an edging or rock garden plant, or as a low hedge. Keep foliage clipped, and shear off faded flowers. Humidity causes the foliage to become unsightly. Needs little water where summers are cool. Available in containers throughout the growing season.

This plant is slower growing than the green-leafed type, and contrasts nicely when planted with it.
