These deciduous, summer-flowering shrubs are grown for their foliage and large panicles of white, small flowers. They prefer sun and deep, fertile, moist soil. On mature plants, prune out some old stems and remaining shots in winter.

This shrub leafs out in spring and has fernlike leaves made up of many sharp-toothed leaflets. Forms thickets by suckers. Flower clusters grow to a foot long. Gives a lush, tropical effect when watered. Blooms on new wood.
