Grouped in a shrubbery border or planted singly in a lawn, these modest-size trees are at their best in spring and fall. In spring, white bell-shaped flowers hang in clusters, and in autumn leaves turn spectacular colors. All right to garden underneath. Plant against a background of larger, darker evergreen trees. Best in loamy soil and in areas sheltered from hot sun and wind. Will not tolerate dry heat. Give water regularly during dry periods. Add peat and organic matter as soil amendments.

This tree is ideally situated on slopes, in a raised bed or near a patio where you can look up into its hanging flowers. Its flowers are slightly fragrant. Yellow autumn foliage.
