Trillium chloropetalum

Birthroot, Wood Lily, Stinking Benjamin

Loved and coveted by gardeners and hikers alike, the showiest Wake Robins are native to North America. Notoriously hard to get and somewhat difficult to grow, they are sometimes dug up illegally in the wild. This has caused them to disappear from some areas where they offered spring blooms in yellow, maroon, or white. Plants thrive in a moist woodland setting with Ferns, Toad Lilies and wild ginger. They increase slowly underground. Regular nurseries rarely carry them, so contact specialty nurseries. Never let fleshy underground stems dry out.
