Vigorous ground covers for shady areas, Periwinkles usually flower lavender-blue, but white and purple forms also exist. Plant in shady areas where nothing else will grow. Use on rough slopes or to cover unused areas, but take care, because Periwinkle can be invasive. Use forms with trailing, variegated foliage in hanging baskets and planter boxes. Also called Myrtle, the perennial Periwinkles are sometimes confused with the annual Madagascar Periwinkle, Catharanthus roseus. Sold in cell packs throughout the growing season. |

This tough spreader is easy to grow, but is not as invasive as the Large Periwinkle. It has intermittent white flowers and lush foliage.
