Brahea armata

Fan Palm, Blue Hesper, Mexican Blue Palm

These slow-growing fan palms are natives of Baja, Mexico, and need little water or care. Long clusters of creamy white flowers bloom in spring, followed by edible fruits. Their coarse foliage comes in shades of green to blue-green. Will not tolerate wet soil or shade. Remove dead leaves.

One of the most beautiful Palms, it has a heavy crown of waxy, bluish green leaves that reach 15 feet long. The leaf stalks are armed with stout, hooked spines. The flower clusters hang almost to the ground.
