Chelone obliqua

Easy to grow Turtleheads are similar to Penstemons but do well in partial shade. At home beside lakes, streams, ponds and other boggy areas, they require little care besides watering. Hooded lilac-pink flowers are shaped like a turtle's head. Propagate by seed sown in spring or cutting in summer.
Chelone obliqua
Perhaps the showiest of its species, it has a long blooming season that lasts through autumn. More tolerant of heat and humidity than other types, it does best in its native Southeast.
