The flowers are tiny, colored yellow to green, and are often surrounded by leaves colored like petals, called bracts, which look like flowers, in white, pink, red or green. The white sap can irritate skin and eyes, and is sometimes poisonous to humans and some animals. Requires good soil drainage and full sun. Start by division and seed. |
This multibranched succulent resembles a columnar cactus. Tolerates hot, dry gardens. When grown in a greenhouse, in winter keep completely dry. Milky white sap is poisonous.
