Named for the Greek hero Hercules, these huge, bold-looking plants grow wild and are seldom used in the garden. If planted, they need lots of space and are best for places like parks or along riverbanks. Some may reach 12 feet, with stout stems and coarsely toothed leaves. Cut off faded flower heads to prevent unwanted, hard-to-remove seedlings.
Big, showy plant with massive flower clusters up to 4 feet across on purple-spotted stems.
