Scabiosa columbaria 'Pink Mist'

Pincushion Flower

Use classic, old-fashioned, cutting Pincushion Flowers in the back of flower borders, mass plantings or in wild gardens. Both annual and perennial types flower in colors ranging from white to yellow to purple and are easy to grow. Annual pincushions are best started from seed in the fall or spring. Transplant perennials from containers available throughout the growing season. Provide support for tall varieties, and prolong bloom by cutting flowers.
Scabiosa columbaria, Pincushion Flower
Lower growing than the cut-flower types, unusual 1½-inch-wide pink flowers arise on stems long enough for cutting. Shear old flower heads for blooms all summer.
