Trichocereus chilensis

These columnar, perennial Cacti are sometimes included in the group Echinopsis. Mature plants produce fragrant, nocturnal, funnel-shaped flowers that eventually open flat. Requires sun and well drained soil. Propagate by seed or stem cuttings in spring or summer.

This tall night-bloomer is well-armed, with central spines as long as 5 inches. Greenish-white flowers, edged with brown, reach 6 inches long.
