Trichocereus pachanoi

These columnar, perennial Cacti are sometimes included in the group Echinopsis. Mature plants produce fragrant, nocturnal, funnel-shaped flowers that eventually open flat. Requires sun and well drained soil. Propagate by seed or stem cuttings in spring or summer.

Erect, spiny stems 2½ to 4½ inches in diameter branch out from the base of this shrubby cactus. A fragrant, 9-inch flower with black hairs blooms at night. The stems are often covered with a whitish bloom at first.
