Tough, vigorously growing ornamental Grass which spreads by underground rhizomes. Cut back hard when leaves look unkempt. Grown for its showy, variegated leaves. Airy flower clusters are insignificant. Many cultivars are available.

White variegated leaves are 3/4 to 1 inch wide. This grass is attractive year-round. Fades to beige with frost. New spring growth may be tinged pink, contrasting the white flower panicles which bloom in early summer and mature to light brown. Forms an aggressive ground cover where water is readily available.
